Band of Brothers. The war masterpiece.

Now Band of Brothers is a  mini-series you need to watch no matter what.

Whether you are fond of war (whatever that means) and war movies in general or not at all.

Personally I find everything around the WWII history fascinating. It truly is a big turning point in the global history. It's also not far away if you think about it. Not even 70 years has passed.

There are people who fought for this war that are still alive.

So what is so special about this war mini-series? You could tell me there are tons of WWII movies around the corner. Such as Saving Private Ryan. Which truly was a really good movie.

Is Band of Brothers better?

aww-yiss

Oh yeah baby. I mean it's a whole new dimension.

You know something else that is great? I couldn't possibly spoil it for you. Unless you are not aware of WWII history.

And even if you are not an expert (which I am not either, just an enthusiast) I won't go so deep in this article. I only wish to share some great moments I had watching the Band of Brothers and try to convince you to watch it too.

So what is really great about it?

First of. It's a mini-series. Its 10 hours long. Even that is enough for you to understand that it can go much more in depth than any other movie possible. Movies simply can't go any deeper.

Well, maybe perhaps one.

So the series follows the lives and the events that the U.S. paratroopers gone under from the beginning of their training, until eventually the war ends (spoiler alert: The Germans lose).

germany-defeat-world-war-2

The series starts at Currahee. A training camp in Georgia U.S. where paratroopers are being trained.  There you will meet most of the people you are going to follow throughout the war.

yep thats Ross!

You might not get all crazy about it from the first episode.

It's only natural to be honest. It only sets out the mood of what you are going to see. So then again the chronicle around the series is following the 101st airborne division and mostly but not only, Easy company.

101st-airborne-division

The second episode after is pure war. It starts with D-day. The day of the days. The day where the U.S. troops set foot on European ground.

D-day

But the paratroopers weren't on the beach the infantry where Tom Hanks lands. Meaning Omaha beach. I know. We all know these horrible scenes stuck in our minds in saving private Ryan.

No the paratroopers didn't had to deal with heavy enemy forces in front of them. They had to deal with heavy enemy forces surrounding them. Because they fell right in to the enemy grounds. Out of a god damn airplane!

101st-airborne-division-paratroopers

Generally what the paratroopers are dealing with in the war is the worst situation possible. After all they were the elite special forces. Those 18 year old kids.

You will go through tremendous despair across the series. You will see people dying easier than George RR Martin's characters. Plus they actually did die. A lot of them throughout the war.

You will bond with the characters. You will love and cry about and with the characters. You will hate the Nazis more than you thought you could possibly hate and then you will realize that the soldiers are the same no matter who they fight for. They are young kids trying to defend their country.

Politics is a completely other thing. People living in the cities are the one who gets it though. The everyday people.

Every aspect of the Band of Brothers is perfect. Then again it's HBO. That is true. The actors are spectacular, the settings, photography and the script. Anything. Trust me on that. There is nothing you will not cherish after watching this show. I've seen it in a day once. And I've seen it so far about 10 times. It never gets old.

What I'm suggesting is that if you like WWII related topics go watch it right now. If you don't then please trust me. I know people who didn't want to watch it.

Eventually I convinced them and they fell in love with it.

Go ahead and tell me how you felt about it after watching it please.

One more thing. Is this an American patriotic movie? Well yes it is. Is it annoying. No. Not at all. Please do not see this as a propaganda film. Watch if for the characters. For what they were gone through.

So... Are you silver?

Robocop Reboot. So how was it really?

You may have probably read the first article about Robocop and how furious and crazy I was about the Robocop reboot.

Eventually I had to see that so called "Robocop" just to be able to be fair and not just go around cursing and judging about how bad that movie is without actually seeing it.

robocop 2014 wallpaper

So why won't you go ahead and read summarily the first Robocop post and then we go ahead with what I actually saw.

OK. So we move along. First off. I do not regret anything. The movie is not terrible and easy to watch but that does not mean you can go on ahead and reboot my childhood.

Anyway.

So the whole movie has a different origin story. Robocop actually has rights upon himself. Which is very strange. Because in the first Robocop movie, Robocop is truly a machine. None doubts that. He is more a machine than any other thing. Well in the reboot they want to show a more human side of Robocop.

robocop 2014 without suit
Probably the best scene in the movie.

Only when he is in combat the machine takes over.

robocop 2014 gif

This movie has a lot of sensitivity around human rights. Which I guess it's fine when it comes to 2014 but it is rather irrelevant to the the Robocop franchise.

Let's move on.

You have Gary Oldman playing the scientist. As always they guy is completely amazing so he is holding up the movie a bit.

Gary Oldman as Dr Dennett Norton RoboCop 2014

Then you have Michael Keaton. Poor guy has gone old... But still he is nice.

Michael Keaton as Raymond sellars RoboCop 2014

Even Joel Kinnaman, whom I have said he is a disaster, is actually not terrible for a robot.

Joel kinnaman as RoboCop 2014

That as far as the cast. Because other than that the cast is nothing special.

So the story is rather vague because of one big problem. A Robocop movie without gore. Which is crazy. Because Robocop means gore in the 80s. You don't get to see a tiny drip of blood. Which unintentionally harms the general feeling of the movie. People are not actual villains. They are corporate villains who pretty much care about the human but are afraid of bad publicity.

That makes hard to spot the bad guys. Is there a bad guy in the movie? I say there isn't. There are just many bad decisions. But not a bad person. Except for the Valon guy. But then again. He is obvious. And completely unimportant to the scenario. At least in the old movies the bad guy actually had something to do with the evil mastermind.  Now he is simply irrelevant. And he has FEELINGS about killing a cop! Seriously? FEELINGS? You are a villain FFS! Please go watch the movie and tell me. Did you find someone to be a bad guy? An actual crazy bad guy?

Like this crazy motherfucker for instance?

clarence boddicker robocop bad guy

Anyway. In conclusion. It wasn't terrible. It had some nice action and it had it's moments. It kinda looked like Metal Gear Solid 4 in the beginning but that is only a pro if you ask me. Was it worth judging it so badly?

In my opinion yes. It was a reboot. I hate reboots. Go ahead and think an original scenario.

If you can't do that, then please at least do not reboot my Childhood. OK??

fuck off gif

THANK  YOU!

But really no. It was a fine 2 hour watch. A typical action movie. So if you think about it like that it's cool.

80s reboot and mediocre movies

A huge part of movies nowadays is just a reboot of an '80s movie!

Is that for nostalgia's sake only?

I'm afraid it isn't my dear people. Unfortunately we are both lazy for profit and out of ideas. Plus we have no other option.

obey they live

OK so lets how its being done in the movies.

There is a need to make a reboot of all the good cult movies of the past?

You are fucking rebooting Robocop?

You are Rebooting Highlander?

What the fuck is wrong with you people?

community head bang

Are you insane? Besides rebootιng them, you are not even paying any attention to the details. Nothing that made these movies special is in the reboots. Studios just want to make fucking money! That is all they need in this fucking world.

Of course there is no such need as "producing a good film" or a fine reboot even.

No reason for that. All the producers and creators around the world stopped giving even a simple unit of fuck about us and what we like, a long time ago.

fuck you gif

The problem about the movies is that, a risky mistake could make the studio go bankrupt if they don't sell good due to the very high production costs for an "action" movie.

So they choose to go on the easy path. Fuck new screenwriters. Fuck an original story. No no no my friends. We don't need anything original at all. Just fill us with shit again and again and dance on our raped (by your shit) body forever.

sheldon gif
Yeah baby. Shake it.

That is our generation problem. We stand here without doing anything. And I am not talking about a revolution. I mean simple stuff. Just don't go and watch a shitty movie.

OK. Now be prepared. I will drop the bomb.

I DID NOT LIKED THE AVENGERS!

avengers

NEITHER ANY OTHER NEW MARVEL MOVIE!

oh no you didnt gif

You know what? It wasn't a terrible film but I WANTED WAY MORE! That movie was a pile of cliche shit with perhaps some nice actors.

WHERE THE FUCK IS THE STORY?

WHERE THE FUCK IS IT? TELL ME!

joffrey slap gif

joffrey slap gif

No it wasn't epic! It was mediocre to say the least! Fight scenes were shit! Everything were shit. OK I know. Robert Downie JR and bla bla bla. I don't care. It doesn't matter if an actor is great.

That is not what the Avengers should have been. Its should have been a movie that would have rocked your world. And it was nothing.

You know why they do that? Because you are going to see it anyway. Because your standards are so low that you are just happy that they even decided to release it.

I dont think I am the only one who has set a standard for aesthetics. I don't think so.

Everyone had higher expectations at some point. The bar is low people. And it began with our favorite stuff. They rape our beloved movies and characters.

stormtrooper rape

It is us and only us who allow them to do it. We allow to the studios and pretty much anyone, to give us mediocracy while farting on our face.

south park fart

I do not want to accept that this is how we are going to end up. There are so many amazing artists out there just waiting for a chance to show us something beautiful.

We need to support that. I am not saying we should not give our precious money to the studios. I'm just saying we need to be careful.

Plus if you whine a lot on the internet there is a chance you might be heard if more and people agree with that. It worked for Xbox One.

What is great about the internet is that we are a bottom up community making our decisions fast and easy and thus generating original and good content.

Let us fight for what we love for fucks sake. I really do not wanna see another and another movie being rebooted like that.

robocop reboot

We need to take advantage of one thing. Our brain. Perhaps we should not have as the only criterion in life to make money. Perhaps in order to receive top money you need to provide top quality.

For that reason first you need to aim for top quality.

All the 300: Rise of an empire historical mistakes [Spoilers]

let me just clarify this. It doesn't matter. It's a movie.

300 rise of an empire

You need to make mistakes and alter the truth.

So I don't feel offended by it. In fact if you feel offended you are an idiot. An r-tard even!

r tard south park

Because that is how the movie sector works. It's fiction.

If you don't like that, go watch a documentary. Which is still fiction. But still. Anyway.

south park history channel

Be aware. Spoilers begin here.

Let us have a look at the list!

And let's rate if its actually worth manipulating history in order to create something more Hollywood-ish.

1.

King Darius was not injured in the Marathon battle. In fact he wasn't even there. Neither, Xerxes. Darius died of a month long disease. Hmm, that sounds familiar way of a non glorious death...

drogo death

drogo death

2.

The numerical difference. It's supposed to be 50 Greek ships against a thousand (1000) Persian ships in the movie. Which is totally wrong. There were around 1207 Persian ships while the Greeks had 271 in Artemisium. On Salamis the Greeks had 366 or 378 ships and the Persians had around 1000 to 1300 ships. The number varies. Thank you primarily Herodotus and Xenophon.

herodotus

xenophon

3.

Themistocles was but one of the 10 generals in Marathon but the general in command was Miltiades. He was the almighty general. Miltiades is the master and creator of flanking. He is one of the greatest strategic minds ever existed on this planet. Nonetheless Themistocles was really important too.

miltiades you shall not pass
Miltiades. He is like "You shall not pass bitch!"

4.

King Darius left Xerxes one order before his death. To avenge the Athenians and the rest of the Greeks for the disgrace they inflicted to the almighty Persian empire. While on the movie it's the complete opposite. Darius suggests Xerxes to stay away from the Greeks. I mean come on! I know it's cool to be afraid the small but that's ridiculous.

cliche

5.

Artemisia was the daughter of Lygdamis, a Satrap. She later became the queen of Halicarnassus. The movie talks about her being raped by Greeks and being found by the Persians and raised.

bullshit

This is just a cool backstory of bullshit. Furthermore she wasn't the ultimate leader of the Persians and above Xerxes. She was one of the important people but not an admiral of the entire fleet.

6.

We are not sure that the Persians under Xerxes actually used Elephants. None of the historians mentions such a thing.

actual footage from marathon battle

7.

The movie has Themistocles being presented as the ultimate leader of the naval forces. He wasn't the admiral in command though. He was one of the leaders mainly because Athens had the best and biggest fleet in the known world at the time. Evriviades was the commander (Spartan by the way) of the fleet even though Spartans only had 10 ships in Artemisium and 16 in Salamis.

spartans
Spartans ladies and gentlemen

8.

Athens is presented wrongly. One of the main inaccuracies is the destruction of Athens by the Persians which shows a total slaughter and raping fest. Truth is that the Athenians had most of the citizens transferred to nearby islands and only had left behind people who were unable to move.

athens destruction

9.

Here's something strange. Greek ships are being presented without sails in the movie. Like huge boats.

300 rise of an empire ships
300 rise of an empire ships

Thing is that the Athenian ship, the Trireme is one of the most effective ships in naval history.

trireme

Yes they had sails. Not all times, but they did had.

10.

Themistocles could not possibly see Artemisia and meet her. There is no way he could go through the whole Persian army to fuck Artemisia. Even though I realize why he would want to do it!

eva green gif

eva green hot

eva green hot

There is no historical evidence to prove any kind of romance between them.

11.

Artemisia did not die in the battle of Salamis. Instead she allegedly lived to fall in love with a guy who didn't loved her. She then out of rage took his eyes off. Later she fell way more deeply in love with the guy until a clairvoyant suggested she should jump of a cliff.

eva green

12.

Spartans and Peloponnese in general were present in the battle all along. They did not show up to save the day. Plus we must say one thing here. Athenians were GODS in the naval art. None could beat them. NONE.

13.

There were no explosions in the fight. That only makes sense since the only weapon capable to create an explosion was the Greek fire which was used in the Byzantium.

greek fire

Until then the best thing they had was some kind of useless flamethrower.

14.

Queen Gorgo (Cersei Lannister) did not participate in any fight. OK i know vengeance seems cool but this did not happen.

queen gorgo

Historical accuracy is not the reason I was going to see a movie for anyway! By the way. Xerxes did chopped Leonidas head off.  dayym.
