The Oscars 2014 now are officially history.

So I'm gonna start from the top. Best picture for 12 years a slave. 

Almost seemed like a movie tailor made for the Oscars. I mean the topic (slavery) and a lot of black community issues and struggle. Anti-racism is the academy's favorite thing. Was it worth it though? Oh yeah. I saw the film on theater. It really is a tremendous film. Cruel and realistic but for me a piece of art.

Worth it: YES

Best Director, Alfonso Cuaron, Gravity.

OK. this guy. It's not like he is not good. But srsly now? Dayym!

I mean you have Alexander Payne and Steve McQueen (I wont say Scorsese and Russell because lets be honest, it wasn't for Oscar). 

And you give it to Cuaron? FOR REAL NOW?

Worth it: Meh

Leading Actor - Matthew McConaughey, Dallas Buyers Club

OK so I'm personally frustrated by this result.

Why wouldn't DiCaprio get it? I Mean he even snorted Cocaine out of a hookers ass! He is the best actor of his time!

And you give it to McConaughey? Whatever! Fine!

Worth it: NO (to be honest though McConaughey was spectacular)

Leading Actress - Cate Blanchett, Blue Jasmine

One of the best actresses alive. She was an absolute smash on blue Jasmine. And she is so damn beautiful too.

Worth it: Totally

Supporting Actor - Jared Leto, Dallas Buyers Club

I may not like Jared Leto. But we need to admit that this role was the role of his life. Almodovarish. 

Worth it: Yes

Supporting Actress - Lupita Nyong’o, 12 Years a Slave

I may love Jeniffer Lawrence but Lupita was teh shit in this movie. 

Worth it: Completely

Now to wrap it up. Her was worth way more than original screenplay. Gravity seriously wasnt worth a ton of oscars. There was 12 years a slave for this.

So we need to realise that even though the academy might not have a fan's perception they still aren't totally wrong. they just have different reasons to favor a movie.
